Leopard print eye courtesy of Beauty's Bad Habit

I have been meaning to try a leopard print eye for a while and after seeing this guest post on Lipglossiping by Beauty's Bad Habit I decided to take a few minutes to try out this look. I didn't use any eyeliner or mascara, but if it weren't midnight I probably would have. Next time I'll try to find a darker brown for the spots and have the eye shadow from the lashline to a bit under where my eye creases be a bit darker. Here is my first attempt at the leopard eye.

What happens to bad eyeliners

So I've come across some eyeliners that haven't worked for me since I started buying make-up. Two of them are N.Y.C. liquid eyeliner (if the line is too thick or I wear it too long it starts cracking and flaking) and Wet 'n' Wild's H20 liquid eyeliner (it's really hard getting a fine line and hard to apply and it's kind of sticky). I can't bear to waste them so I use them to try out different looks and such. After the long intro here are the pictures of one of those looks. Disclaimer: it may not be the neatest or cleanest because the products I used aren't exactly a dream to work with. Sorry.

Would You Rather Make-up tag

This is a tag that's been going around for a while. I read it on Kelly's blog which can be found here:
and I decided to answer the questions.
1) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip-glosses or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows?
I would lose my palettes and eyeshadows seeing as how I don't have many of them and if I do manage to put on make-up I usually wear eyeliner and something on my lips.

2) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

I would chop off all my hair. I would cheat and wear a wig while waiting for it to grow. I haven't cut my hair in a long time and the damage is pretty bad.

3) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
A pink cheek because it would look more natural, that's the color of my actual blush and what my cheeks look like after a work-out.

4) If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
Clothes. They're generally more expensive than make-up and more important. I can go out without make-up. Clothes, not so much. Plus I could get some custom made clothes :)

5) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick?
Eyeliner as lipstick. I could totally do a goth look. Also for some reason I feel like it would be safer to put an eye product on your lips than a lip product on your eyes especially that close.

6) Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
Sephora. It has more of a variety and a rewards program and things there can be expensive but there are some cheaper things also.

7) Would you rather only use one eye shadow color or one lip color the rest of your life?

One eyeshadow color, but I would choose one that is very complex and could look like more than one color depending on how you apply it (like Fyrinnae's fire opal). I also wear lip products waaaaay more often than eyeshadow.

8) Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
Winter clothes in summer. I'm okay with wearing hoodies and jeans in 100+ degree weather (I know for sure because I've done it before) as long as I'm not running around for miles. Most people think I'm crazy but I'm oddly fine.

9) Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
Dark nails. I'm drawn to darker, more vampy nail colors for some reason. I'll have to show my polish collection sometime as you'll see a pattern happening.

10) Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
My favorite lip product. Most lip products perform about the same for me, but eye products don't. Finding a great eye product is much harder for me.

11) Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
A ponytail because it's less effort for me. To put my hair in any kind of bun I need to put it in a ponytail first.

13) Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all? Or sharpie them in everyday?
I think I would sharpie them and get some long bangs and huge sunglasses just in case.

12) Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip-gloss?
Never paint my nails again. I don't do it that often and it takes a much longer time than applying lip gloss.
It's also harder to fix and apply.

14) Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
I would rather live without nail polish for the reasons I gave in 12 and also because make-up includes so much more which would make more of a difference.

Quick tip: How to reduce oil on your forehead when you have bangs

A few years back I got bangs. They looked great, but my face is really oily. Overnight the oil in my hair and forehead would tranfer making both way more oily than if they weren't in contact. Now most people just put their hair up so it doesn't touch their face, but I couldn't do that. If I did that my hair would look all funky the next day and my bangs would be creased and refused to fall the right way. That's when I came upon this idea to make my hair and forehead less oily.

Go out and get some wide cloth (preferably cotton) headbands. I found mine at Target, but I'm pretty sure most drugstores have them too (but don't quote me on that).
At night I would go about my skincare routine and at the end I would put on the headband. I put it on so that the top of the headband was against my hairline and the bottom of the headband ended up a little bit above my eyebrows and of course my bangs were over the headband. That way the headband spanned my forehead and was in-between my hair and face, preventing the transfer of oil. It worked really well. My forehead wasn't covered in a layer of oil and my bangs weren't stringy. If you'd like photos or have more questions feel free to ask.

Stories: A messy room

There are some things that you think happen in movies or stories in books, things that can only happen in fiction. There are also things that happen in real life way too often. I'm going to start telling those stories and all those in between and have the title start with "Stories:" Feel free to skip them, but it gives me a chance to put down my little stories somewhere. Here's the first one:

When I was in 7th grade I had some friends over. Now, I'm not exactly the tidiest person and my room was a mess. There were baskets of clothes both clean and dirty out, my blankets were half on the ground, clinging to the bed. I had a few other items strewn here and there and it was just bad. I figured we could just hang out and play games on the main level and the door to my bedroom upstairs stayed firmly closed. Of course my friends insisted on seeing my room, but I kept refusing.

Eventually they wore me down and I told them to give me five minutes and had them wait outside my door. While they were sitting there with my youngest sister who was around 3 or 4 years old at the time I was frantically shoving the baskets of clothes in my closet and shoving things under the bed to try and create an illusion of a somewhat cluttered, but still mariginally clean, room. After that, I let them in and one of the first things my sister does is go over to my closet and she says,"Look at her closet" whilst opening the side of the closet that had the baskets of clothing piled up. My friends laughed and said, "Well I guess we know what she was doing."

I wish I could say I learned my lesson, but I still have some problems organizing. At least it isn't to the extent it was back then. (Or maybe it is, shhhh)

Tip: How to get an alternative to MAC's chromagraphic pencil or products similar

This is a great tutorial by Lisa Eldridge. I love it but I don't have a pencil like MAC's Chromagraphic pencil. So I did some thinking and came up with an alternative with what I had.

This is what you'll need:
-An eyeliner pencil, preferably a harder one (I chose E.L.F's eye widener in pearl white because the pencil is too hard for me to actually use on my eyes so it was just laying around doing nothing)
-A creamy concealer (I used an Avon one I got on sale that didn't quite match enough to use on my skin) Make sure it is safe to put on your waterline!
I took the concealer and scraped some product on my hand. (please excuse the eyeliner swatch below the concealer)You only need a little bit of product.

Now you just take the eyeliner and get an even layer of the concealer over the tip like so:

And you're ready to line your lower waterline. Here are some tips on getting it to stay longer:
1) Right before you put on the concealer, dry your waterline. Take a q-tip or something similar and run it across the water line.
2) Chosse a concealer with good staying power and isn't too creamy, otherwise it travels to the corners of your eyes easily and builds up there.
Good-luck with this and I hope it helps!

An introduction to this blog...

Ok, so I'm very new to blogging. I actually have no idea what's going to happen with this blog. I hope to be able to share my thoughts on make-up, bath and body, fragrances and tell some stories about my life. I hope to include tips and tricks, reviews, looks and hauls. Learning a lot is another aim and maybe get some people to read this blog and respond otherwise I'll kind of feel like an idiot. I never thought I would start a blog, but after getting hooked on reading a few I was inspired to start. I guess that's all for now and hopefully there will be lots more to come.
